About
Traffic Bid solves traffic congestion by limiting access to the volume existing roads can handle. Access is regulated by an automated bid system where drivers are either allocated a slot or offered to postpone their trip in exchange for discounted prices or the use of public transport. The technology is protected by a US patent and has been proven in simulations in US cities.
Target
9.4 By 2030, upgrade infrastructure and retrofit industries to make them sustainable, with increased resource-use efficiency and greater adoption of clean and environmentally sound technologies and industrial processes, with all countries taking action in accordance with their respective capabilities
11.6 By 2030, reduce the adverse per capita environmental impact of cities, including by paying special attention to air quality and municipal and other waste management
11.2 By 2030, provide access to safe, affordable, accessible and sustainable transport systems for all, improving road safety, notably by expanding public transport, with special attention to the needs of those in vulnerable situations, women, children, persons with disabilities and older persons
Metrics
Measured as the savings in carbon footprint as a result of using Traffic Bid. Calculated against the total annual hours of cars on the road in a given area.
Measured as the change in annual mean fine particulate matter (e.g. PM2.5 and PM10) in cities (population weighted) emitted as a result of using cars.
Meaured as the number of public transport vehicles, and their hours on the road. Reported annually.
